Kids’ Church

Sunday mornings @ 10:30 am

Kids’ Church is Hayward Wesleyan Church’s children’s ministry on Sunday mornings. It is kind of like traditional Sunday school, but a little more engaging than what one might be used to.

We strongly believe in both formal and informal spiritual educational environments.

  • Informal environments are what occurs in your home and in the course of living daily life. It is the informal times at meals, riding in the car to and from sports of life activities, bedtime, participating in family adventures, or while cleaning the house that spiritual instruction is verbally taught and modeled (Deut. 6:4-9).
  • The formal environment is where more systematic instruction can take place. This looks like gathering together in an age-appropriate fashion (i.e. early childhood together, elementary together, etc.) in order to teach spiritual content (revealed in the Bible) with a group of children.

Preschool Class

For ages 3-4, these students spend the hour playing, listening to a Bible story (usually one set of stories for the whole month), working on a memory verse, making a craft or doing a project, and eating some snacks. They meet in room 103.

Kindergarten & Elementary (grades K-5)

The elementary students begin the hour in the Main Street Theatre room.

Typically an hour in elementary looks like engaging in weekly traditions (birthday celebrations, announcements, and offering), then a teaching in the Scriptures, and some time in small groups (by grade) where they recap what they learned in the large-group, discuss some elements of how the story might connect to their lives, and pray for one another.
